Partnership | Homeowners reach out to designers because they want an experienced professional with the talent and resources to create and execute the style they desire in their home. Finding the right designer means finding someone who shares your aesthetic, has a personality that you enjoy and who will spend your money in a way that meets with your approval. Hiring a designer is an investment, so we take our role in your project very seriously. We recommend that you interview a number of design firms to ensure that we’re the best fit for you. Mutual trust between homeowners and designers generally creates better results and a more enjoyable process!
Consultation |  The initial complimentary consultation is an opportunity for us to assess your space and understand your requirements for the project. This is also a time for you to meet us to see if you think our style and personality will be a good fit for you. The initial consultation will last about an hour.
Letter of Agreement | After your initial consultation, we will send you a design proposal detailing the scope of work required to complete your project. The proposal also contains an estimate of the number of hours we believe we will need to complete the scope of work. We strive to provide you an accurate estimate of the time needed, but the time actually spent on any project is dependent on many factors. With quick decisions and good communication, many of our clients complete their jobs at or under the hours estimated.
Getting Started | Once you decide to sign on with KPI, Inc., we return to your space to measure, take photographs and ask you in-depth questions about your needs and ideas. Since your input is critical to personalizing your space to your style, we encourage our clients to gather images of rooms or products they like that they can share with us at this meeting. The more information you can provide to us, the better; it will allow us to work as efficiently as possible towards finding a design solution that works for you.
Budget Planning | Knowing your budget is probably the single largest determining factor in how a client and designer approach a project. Being honest about your budget is critical to making sure that we do not spend time looking at options that are out of your price range or below the quality level you want. We are capable of working with many different budgets as long as they are adequate for the scope of work and level of customization required. We can also assist you in creating a reasonable budget for the type of design you require. Be clear about your budget expectations in the beginning to save time and money during the design process.
Design Time | Once we have an idea of your vision for your space, we will create space plans and select a variety of fixtures and finishes for presentation to you. KPI, Inc. draws from its extensive library of product samples, catalogs and vendor resources to customize your space to your unique parameters. There’s no need to piecemeal your design by shopping for each product at numerous different locations. You only need to meet us at our design studio where we will present all of your selections together to better help you to visualize the end result. Our large collection of product samples allows for you to see alternative options. We value your input and want you to be involved in the design process. You will leave your presentation confident in your design selections and excited to see your space finished!
Project Management | Once your design has been finalized, priced and approved, KPI, Inc. can recommend qualified contractors to execute the design of your space. Whether you hire a KPI-recommended contractor or your own contractor, we will work closely with your trades people to facilitate the management of your project, including the preparation of orders, tracking of deliveries, and maintaining of your project spreadsheet. We are not finished until your new space is complete and ready for you to enjoy!
